It was built in the 12th century, but only a small part of the building has been preserved from that time, including an unusually shaped portal in the west section. The church as we see it today dates from 13th century (east section) and 15th century (the west tower, armoury and sacristy). A runestone dating from the 11th century is built into the wall of the armoury.
