In Djupadalen there is a small canyon – an erosional valley. It was created after the last ice age when huge amounts of water from a meltwater lake was drained into the sea to the west. The water cut a gorge up to 14 metres deep into the limestone.
Around the Dala canyon are alvars with a thin soil layer and a rich flora.
